Biodegradable leather consumes less water than the traditional tanning process and the waste waters are free from heavy metals which are toxic and allergenic. Any scraps not used in the production process do not go into landfill but can be biodegraded instead. Due to this more ecologically friendly process the finish on biodegradable leather may have some irregularities making each pair of shoes completely unique.

Special care should be taken with all leather product as atmospheric factors such as light, time and use may cause damage to the leather. Once this occurs, it is not possible to reverse. Avoid any solvents which damage the finish. Loose dirt should be removed with a soft damp, lint-free cloth.
